About linda cannon
I enjoyed a long and successful career in Local Government spanning 28 years, working mainly in Environmental Health and Licensing as a Senior practitioner and Service Manager. My final role before deciding to ‘go it alone’ was to implement and lead a shared Licensing Service managing the Licensing regimes at two district Council’s in Hampshire. I have a wealth of experience across all Local Authority Licensing regimes but particularly specialising in Licensing Act 2003, Animal Welfare Licensing and Taxi and Private Hire Licensing. I have extensive experience in drafting a range of licensing policies and working with a range of businesses, statutory bodies, legal representatives, residents and the courts.
I have written a range of short courses for the Institute of Licensing (IoL) which are delivered nationally. I also support the Institute on different topical working parties to ensure that the licensing Law and Practice shared with members and course delegates remains up to date and workable.
My approach to any Local Authority training is based on operational experience and scenarios to give delegates a practical experience to assist them in their day to day roles, whether that role is as an administrator, enforcement officer or elected Member.
Training that I deliver for licensed businesses is based around their relationship with Local Authorities and statutory bodies such as the police and how to work in partnership to ensure compliance and a positive and successful experience.
I provide companies with advice and support with applications using my Local Authority management and operational experience to ensure a smooth and successful application process.
Public speaking is something I enjoy and I have spoken often at the IoL national conference on a range of Licensing matters.
Living in the South of England gives me great access to the motorway network and good public transport. Distance is no object.
Contact me if you require any support and advice on licensing matters, applications for licences or training needs.
